Attn. Satellite Gurus

I have a SD directv reciever that lives in our RV. I also have one of the slimline dishes that they are using for HD reception laying in the shed. Will the slimline dish work to recieve SD channels on the older SD reciever?

You should if you can change the setting in your receiver to the Slimline. Then type in your zip code of where you are to get the elevation for the slimline. It is probably different than the 18" round SD dish because of the difference in their shapes.

I use a slimline dish and it will also pick up the SD channels. At my home, I had both HD and SD receivers with the slimline, so I just brought the entire set up with me when I went full time.

Good point on changing the settings on the reciever. I think I'll try to find an 18" dish as that's what we use when we are on the road. I am going to permanently mount a dish on the building that I park next to at home so hooking up at home would be as easy as connecting the wire. Thanks for the feedback.
