Automatic propane shutoff?

I have a 30' 2010 Freelander Dreamer with the stove in the slide-out. The gas in my stove will not flow when the slide is in, when extended all is well. The question is: Is this a normal saftey feature or is a gas line being pinched when the slide is in, creating a potential casastrophe?

I just called Forrest River Support and was informed that in fact my propane line is being PINCHED or CRIMPED. Yaowie, sure got this old ducks attention!


The fix, Mr. Roff says is to extend slide about half way out, prop slide up with a support, (I.E. 2 X 4) locate problem area and strap porpane hose in a position for resolution. Hummm, I hope it's that easy.

Glad you found that out quick!!! find it asap and do as was suggested by FR. and then tell them they should issue a recall for that problem. if not report it to the NHTSA. that is a danger!

I certainly agree about the DANGER part. When I talked with Mr. Roff of Forrest River he didn't seem concerned, maybe he's just a laid-back sort of fellow. His suggestion of taking the slide out 1/2 way and propping it up with a 2X4 sounded easy enough...BUT....lifting that slide is going to take more oomph than I along can supply. I could brace and lift the slide with a small hydraulic jack but I'm wondering if that will break/snap some of the slide/track/gear interfacing. I'm in a real dilemma here.

I've been cruising the interweb searching with Google for like or similar problems but have yet to find anything related. I visited the "The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)" latest RV recalls but found nothing there either.

I'm guessing this same hose pinching is happening in other Forrest River, Lippert above floor slide outs but no one has noticed it. In order to realize the pinch is occuring, one has to try and light the stove or burners with the slide moved to the in position.

If anyone has any ideas, I sure could use the help.

Call him back and tell him you want it covered and take it to who they say to get it fixed.

This is a safety issue from a design flaw.

I agree with Herk. YOU shouldn't have to fix squat. Bad design = they fix (either voluntarily or involuntarily under an NHTSA directive).

That is a hazard - glad you found it - I would see what it entails to fix and if it is an easy fix they do it butif it entails movin or jackin the slide - I would leave that to the pro's incase something gets messed up or out of alignment they might blame it on you - just my .02 also


I have a Mini Lite 2306 - no slide but when I took my propane tanks off to get refilled recently - I noticed the main propane hose that comes from the regulator and shoots down to under the camper is getting chafed by the metal plate they have under the A section of the frame.

I am thinking of wrapping the propane hose with wire loom to protect the hose from this since there is very little slack in the hose to give it a longer loop down. any thoughts on this?

My thinking is to make FR replace it! If has been pinched a number of times, to the extent of shutting off the gas flow, it has been weakened and is liable to fail under the additional stress of normal use.
