I made up an adapter with a gate valve that screws into the City Water connection and has a quick connect for the air hose. That way I can move throughout the RV and open and close faucets, toilets etc to allow the water to escape. I can also do other things while the low point drain is allowing water out. I used a flexible connector so it hangs at a 45 degree angle.

That makes sense to blow it out at the city water intake, but how can you blow out the line from the holding tank to the pump? Will it back pressure through the water pump and clear the line to the holding tank?

You can't blow out your holding tank. There should be a drain hose with a screw on plug at the bottom of your RV to drain it. Also, don't put any antifreeze (RV type) in your holding tank. Be careful how much air pressure you use when you blow out your lines. Check around but I believe you don't want to exceed 45 psi or so. But don't go in there with 100 psi or you could blow things to smitherines! Lots of people use pressure limiters on city water to avoid this problem.

I guess I didn't answer your question which was the line from the holding tank to the pump. You may have a valve near the pump that has a short hose for introducing RV antifreeze. After your holding tank is empty, open this valve and you may get enough "relief" in the line to allow any water in that line to flow back into the holding tank. I also use RV antifreeze to make absolutely sure that every drop of water is out of the pump. It doesn't take much water to ruin that pump; a few drops may be enough . . .

Its closely related to the muffler belt that I've seen some replace when in fact the blinker fluid was just low. Common mistake among rookies.
