Blue Ox SwayPro WD System

Anyone using a Blue Ox SwayPro WD System with 1,500lb sway bars? Opinions?

We use a Blue Ox Sway Pro with 1000 lb bars. Our tongue weight is right at 900 lbs. We really like the way it tows. It replaced an older Equalizer system with a friction bar for sway.

1500 lb bars is very high. I didn't know they made them that heavy. Is your tongue weight over 1000 lbs? How big is your trailer?

They make bars up to 2,000lbs.
My tongue weight is around 1,137lbs. The dry weight of the 2018 Puma 32RKTS is 7,673lbs.

I use it and have the 1500 lb bars. I am happy with it. Not easy to compare as I had a cheap WDH with friction sway control on my old trailer. Started with the blue ox on the new trailer.
When I was researching I found several posts where people moved from the 4 point equalizer and had better results with the blue ox.
And being quiet and easy setup helps.

We use the 1500 lb trunion bars for our Tracers 1200 lb tongue weight. Make sure you complete warranty card (or online), had to replace trunion bar locking pins already. Blue Ox will send parts and easy to replace.

This hitch was recommended by multiple dealers while we were shopping for TT 2-years ago. While new to RV ownership, we are not new to camping. Buy yourself a 25" long 1/2" breaker bar with 1"-6 point socket from Harbor Freight, much easier than supplied wrench.

Thanks for the info. Did you install your BlueOx?

It looks like our rigs are similar in size/weight. People on some forums have said that my trailer might be too much for my truck. I have camped with it this year about 5 times, no issues with towing. The only reason I need a new hitch is that the Reese that I am using now is getting old and my trunnion bars are not strong enough. Even with the slightly inadequate sway system, the trailer pulls quite comfortably. Our local Reese dealer said that this particular WD system (Reese SC) is no longer made.

With the F150 EcoBoost 3.5, I never have issues with not enough power. Does your Titan provide enough power?

Thanks again...

I have no sway issues or pulling issues with Titan. Had gas powered 1/2 ton GMC that pulled just fine but was 16 years old with 180K miles. After owning this Titan diesel, I'll never go back to gas for towing.
Dealer installed hitch on GMC, had to lower hitch head for Titan.
Good luck.

not sure the brand but just a basic cheap old style flip up chain tensioners, it did well with my old 24' 5000 lb GVWR trailer. didn't want to even try it with the new trailer 32' almost 10K GVWR

Have The blueox swaypro with 1500lb bars. My TT is about 7700lbs loaded and I tow with f150 EB. I am within 100lbs of payload loaded to go if I pack lighter. I had some early issues with sway. They were related to being over weight with bad distribution (behind trailer axels) and also because one of the WDH connections was a few inches off for the chain connector.

I reduced weight and moved one of the connection points on the trailer to resolve sway issues following instructions better.

I agree with the breaker bar over their little tool. Save your knuckles.

I disconnect before putting in storage because I end at a very tight angle which can make it dangerous disconnecting. Have not had issues at campgrounds but if tight I would remove the bars then as well. An electric trailer jack is also a must for these or most WDH.

Very quiet and simple setup. No washers, just hitch height and chains on bars. Jacking it up sets the ball angle. I painted the 6 7 and 8 chains different colors with DW fingernail polish to make it quick to make them match.

Does anyone think it's ok to tow with the 2000lb bars if the tongue weight is 1400 lbs The dealer sold me a husky WDH with 800-1200 lb bars. I could never get it level. So another dealer put on a scale and ordered a Blue OX Sway pro 2000 lb bars. Not even sure if they weighed it right the just put a heavy duty scale under the tongue jack seems high Thanks

The 1500 has a 1000-1500lb hitch weight range. The 2000 does not say and just shows 2000lbs. I am sure there is a range. You could ask blueox or etrailer.

If your bars are too heavy I think you control the WDH with the chains so you don't jack the WDH part up. As long as you measure I think the risk is a rougher ride and/or maybe less sway control. Anyone else have better information?

I will give Blue OX a call tomorrow. Actually the weight is 1600 lbs I'm also going to see if anyone has a tongue weight scale for sale or that they aren't using. If not I will have to order one it seems really heavy. Forest River says 1315 lbs it's a 30 HDS hyper lite empty it's 7660 lbs. Only other thing I can think of is there is a lot of trailer between the tongue and axels. More to follow Thanks

I was told to +/- 20% on reunion bars capacity. Chain up/down as needed for setup. I used link 10 on 1000 lb bars an link 9 on 1500 lb bars. Biggest change was a much steadier ride.

Thanks for your advice on that. Again I will have to call Blue OX and weigh it properly. I also told trailer should be level while on the scale.

Is that toy hauler by any chance? They will be extra tounge heavy without toys in back. If it is not a toy hauler I would think that you want the 2k bars. With a toy hauler it depends on the weight of the toys

Sorry yes it is a toy hauler and I understand that when I put the toys in it the tongue weight will change. I'm just trying to figure it all out when I don't have any toys in it. Like on weekend trips or up to the races at Pocono. Thanks for your input

If you will tow without the toys then you will want the 2k bars, it the ride is too stiff with the toys maybe a 2nd set of lighter bars. I would run it by blue ox and let them know about the larger than typical wieght variance.

Ok that sounds like a good idea. I will definitely run that by Blue OX. Also once I have the scale I can weigh it with and without the toys. The dealer I have been working with ordered a 1500 lb set then we found out it was more. They have about 14 dealerships and the one that sold me the trailer never even got back to me. I think the guys helping me now might just give me both sets of bars. Can you suggest a scale? Again Thanks for your input.
