Briggs= extremely loud.
If looking for a good quality gen that is quiet, check out the Subaru/ robin. I have a under $500 generator (5kw) with a Subaru and couldn't be more pleased. It is actually even quieter than a comparable Honda (9hp) and at about 1/3 the cost.
Not sure how long the generator will last, but it has served hurricane duty for 5 years now, once for 16 no power days and I have had no issues. I have no doubt the engine will last a very long time.

Hmmm, seems like a nice little alternative inverter generator to the Yamahas and Hondas. If only it is as quiet. I can't seem to find the decimal levels, but I got this from the website:

Up to 38% quieter than a traditional camping generator, perfect for a crowded campsite.

i don't trust an generator that doesn't show its noise level rating.
i searched and couldn't find a db rating, which is a red flag.

you can find other Chinese-made inverter generators, with more power, for the same price.
and don't think this one is American-made, cause it has the B&S brand name, it's made in China also.

that is what scares me. can't find noise level. I don't want to be "that guy" in the campground. Is there an American made one?

there is no American-made inverter generator that i've ever found.
they are either made in Japan, Korea or China.

what are you wanting to run with the generator?

I found this while doing research on the Briggs and Stratton. Still didn't find the decimal level, but the video explains the differences between conventional and inverter generators.

Not a bad price. Can't tell you about the db rating but can tell you that it won't start or run your A/C. It will run just about everything else tho, just not all at once. You might be interested in checking out Boliy inverter/generators

not that i know of. there is a member, RVtechguy, but i don't think he works for FR.

remember, this site is not a FR owned or run site. there's a NW FR rep that's here and Concertone's Bob Fields. that's the only members here i'm aware of that have any connection with FR.

why do you ask?

Briggs and Stratton R worthless.......IMHO!

I've been grappling with them my entire life. From Dad's mower to the POS that he gave me a few years ago. NEVER again. Hondas all around (car, van, quad, generator, and push mower) and never a problem.

I'm just the opposite. Every mower I've ever owned
was B&S and all the engines outlasted the mower.
I had one that sat un-used for at least 5 years.
It was over 20 years old.
The gas looked like maple syrup. I turned it upside down
and let as much run out as possible. I put some fresh
gas in the tank and pulled it several times and it
started. I stuck it out by the road with a FREE sign on it
and it was gone is 10 minutes. That guy is probably
still using it.

OTOH they are noisy. I have a B&S 5500 generator
for home emergency use and it's NOISY.
Would not want one running any where near me in a camp ground.

Like Dan, I have had great luck with Briggs and Stratton engines. Simply, well built, easy to work on, and they seem to last forever.

My Chore Master tiller was given to me about 30 years ago, and it was maybe 20 years old at that time.....I remember my neighbor using that when I was a wee lad. The rings are worn, so it smokes a little, but still starts after just several tugs on the rope.

I bought a new push mower in 1975, and I had to replace the mower deck, but the motor still runs great.

The main reason I settled on my John Deere garden tractor and my Ariens snowblower is because they both had Briggs and Stratton engines.

But.......I have a Yamaha generator. When I bought that the Hondas and Yamahas were the most popular, and didn't evne realize that Briggs & Stratton even made an inverter generator. And noise was a concern.
