Broken steps
Top pivot on Main steps broke Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Looks leverage broke upper tube
Unit is a 2014 Rockwood 2604WS

usually the rivets fail......when they do, replace with a grade 5 or better bolt and ny-loc nut. some people use a step support also

My steps on our Rockwood did the same. What I did was drilled out and put a Allen bolt and nut. Allen are harder than must nuts and bolts plus I had to watch my space to make sure it worked.

We bought a new Wildcat Maxx in 2014 and traded it for a longer Maxx unit in 2016. When we first climbed the steps in our 2016 I couldn't believe how flimsy the steps felt compared to the 2014. I use 2 step supports, side by side, about 10-12' apart between the bottom step and the ground. This makes the steps very solid and should save them from being over-stressed/broken. So far, so good!

The more steps,the more Leverage! Our steps still have the O/E rivets,but we have had the Steps supported since Day 1,Lots of Leverage Movement when going In/Out,Without Step Supports!  Youroo!!

That's because they say "Flexco". They evidently are living up to the name that's on them. 
I figure by the 2018 model year the steps will be either made from luan plywood, cardboard, or no steps will be provided. They'll just give you one of those plastic step stools that cost $.99 at Wally's.

I have a 2014 Silverback 29RE. My steps top tube broke as you described. The steps were replaced under warranty.

My unit has a 3 stepper. One of the step rivets gave way last year in Wisconsin. Replaced the rivet with a 1/4 x 3/4 x 20 stainless steel bolt with a stainless steel nylon lock nut. Last week I discovered another rivet was ready to go. I drilled out all the existing step rivets and replaced them all with stainless steel bolts. I also use a step support under the steps.
