We have an alarm system in our home with fire and smoke of course, I bought an extra fire/smoke unit and a motion unit and placed them in the RV parked behind the house. The wireless units are marked RV unit for the montering company and I also wired a relay to a horn in RV. It did drop my insurance rate on the RV a few bucks for fire insurance during months not out. While out we use the door tirp unit because of the dog as I said have a relay with horn and lights going on and off.

Hank, what state was it that outed all the gun owners with name and address in paper just in the past few days. Now that is a sign, you got to love it...

Love the sign Lou!
If they listed all the gun owners here in OK in the paper, I think the paper would look like a big phone book!

Angry Our Break In

We never had any nproblems with our old 5th wheel parked next to the barn as it is 500 feet off the road. I was out there on a Wednesday afternoon to fill it with water etc. I came back out Friday to find out that it had been broken in to, they stole all of the electronics, easily replaceable, so i thought, but the mos damage was to the door that they pryed open. In all the estimate was 6495.00 to get it fixed. the sad thing was that it was only 3 weeks old. The insurance compant, Allstate, has gave me the run around about getting the TVs and Surround sound replaced. They issued a check for 4027, which did not include the electronics. They said the quote was too high and you could get them cheaper at Walmart, however since this I found out that these items were designed specifically for RVs and you can not purchase them at walmart so Now I have a brand new camper with none of the electronics. I am going to purchase a wireless alarm system with a sim card throiugh ATT that will dial the police, me, and up to 2 other numbers if the alarm goes off. Also I am going to remove all of the electronics every time I return from camping as well as anything else of value and am going to leave it unlocked so if someone is going to break in they wont have to damage my door! An alarm for me is the way to go

Ditto.

Stick to your guns and do not cash the check. If you cash the check, you accept their settlement. Check your policy; must make you "whole" and without the OEM equipment they are not in compliance with your contract with them.

Any insurance company will try to get away with as little as they can. Request an adjuster to see for himself how the RV's entertainment system is integrated into the camper. IT IS NOT A CAR.

X2
I got rearended by a allstate customer once and it came back they said I was 25% at fault because I swung left a couple feet, to make a 75°right hand turn pulling a trailer. I don't undetstand that but I only got paid 75% of the claim.

They told me to have the trailer place purchase the items and submit the receipt for reimbursement. I don't see how since they have closed the claim and there is no paperwork telling about the electronics as that is what the adjuster told me over the phone. Very dissatisfied with Allstate will probably be changing all policies soon

Yes, once the check is cashed your bargaining position gets iffy.
Technically the claim is closed,

FUBAR does not begin to describe it...

I'm really sorry you got broken into!!! On another note, I really like the chairs, and decor of your trailer!
On another note, when you go shopping for new insurance, check out State Farm. I've had 2 claims with them the last 2 years, and they have been wonderful!

Not that I want to bash one insurance company over another. Last year when our trailer was stolen from our drive way we were very pleased with our insurance company. We have safeco. They had us tell them all the features of our trailer I.E. fridge, shower, ac, and such. We had to wait only 15 days and then they paid us far more than we expected. We weren't covered for our belongings but with the extra paid we replaced most of our things and put a very generous deposit on our new trailer. my family looked at our insurance as a blessing to us. To this day the trailer has not been found. As a necessary evil not all insurance company's are bad.

Good to know! Glad you two had such good experiances.
We have Farm Bureau, only one vehicle claim and they were great. Even replaced my b&w turnover ball hitch (barely bowed the rear angle, maybe bowed 1/4") as I was pulling my 30' gooseneck flatbed, when someone stopped short in front of me.
