Central Vacuum

Hello Everyone,

We just took delivery of Forest River Serra 360PDEK, have had it less than a week!! (YEA) The invoice says it has a central vacuum system I am not a dummy but I am working on it!!(LOL) Does anybody know where they hide this thing?? I sure would appreciate a place to look!! Will have many more questions of the group and I will be happy to answer question once I have more knowledge!! (LOL) Thanks & God Bless!!...Dave (jupiterd1)

Usually in the bottom step going to bedroom. Not sure if the same on your model.

If you have one as in the picture above, then the unit itself should be right behind the plug in for the hose with the place to change the bags showing on the basement wall. Mine is red.

Most are clearly marked, but yours may be behind a movable panel. Did you get the hose and accessories? Those have a tough time hiding.

We have to open up the slides and really go thru the unit!! The walk at the dealer seemed ok but when you get home you go what the heck just happened?? Thank you for your response!! God Bless!!...Dave (jupiterd1)

If and when you find it,check the vacuum itself - we used ours a week before deciding to check the bag. I found the unopened pack of new bags in the vacuum,but none were installed.

Don't worry. Been living 250 to 300 days/yr since 2008. Find out something new every week it seems. Lots of good helpful info out there.

So on this topic, is the central vacuum worth it? We think we have finally decided on the Sandpiper 35ROK, and are refining the list of options. My opinion was for the $300ish they want for it, I can by a really nice Dyson. Opinions from those that have this option?

Our Crusader came with one - very handy and does not take up closet space

The tools are stored in the ottoman for the sofa !

Our Silverback 29 RK came up one. It's very handy and can also be used to vacuum out the basement and other compartments. We stored the hose and attachments in a space above the television with no problem.

As said before, no need to carry one and get it out when needed.

We did bring our home vacuum to the RV when we returned home and used it,but really didn't notice any difference from the central one in the RV.

To the OP, our central vacuum plugs in on the stairs. The bags attach in the basement on the wall under the stairs. Ours also had several bags in there. We learned the fiver must be plugged into shore power for the vacuum to run. There is no on/off button for the vacuum, it turns on by plugging the hose in, turns off by disconnecting the hose.

X2, of couse also a sabre!

I personally won't option another camper with one unless its free. It works good but id rather drag an electric cord around our 42' 5er than the hose. But we don't use all our closet and cabinet space like alot do. I think we used it twice all summer.

I know what you are saying about that hose, I have to wrestle with it and my back is killing me by the time I finish my living room area. I saw an ad for the Dyson cordless vacuum earlier tonight. That looks like a great rv solution. I wonder how well it works and how light it is?

Opposite here- we have and like it. But we do have a lot of crap crammed in here! or depending on how you look at it.

I haven't found that the hose is terribly inconvenient but I never did find a way of bringing a decent vacuum with us.

Guess we are just different it that area. I would rather pull just one lightweight hose around than push a vacuum cleaner plus the cord around. And if you have to replug the cord to reach certain areas,that's another hassle.

Thanks for the info!! Our has it on the invoice only not in the trailer and it has been reported so the will be fixed this coming week!! We hope!!

If you do get one, let me know how well it works. I've been interested in those slim dyson's but I've been very Leary of spending 5-600 on a vacuum.

We have a Dyson animal for our house and love it. I'm leaning toward the Dyson and not the central vac
