Clear coat peeling

We had a ton of rain this weekend while camping and i noticed these white flakes on the front of trailer at a seam, then i looked up and noticed a good size area of clear coat peeling off, anyone had this issue? The unit is 1 year and 5 months old, any ideas on how i should proceed. Not sure if anything has longer than a 1 yr warranty, but i don't think it should be shedding clear coat already. Im going to reach out to Forest River and see if they will fix it. Sorry one pic is sideways

Are you the original owner? That almost looks like someone did the Zep floor wax finish mod and it's starting to fail. Reason I say that is the Zep wax tends to yellow and the color difference where it's pealing. Or it could be some other wax product failing?

I am original owner. I have used Ice quick detailer on it which i emailed turtle wax to make sure it was safe to use on fiberglass. Never paste waxed or had anyone wax it. This is only spot doing it.

Try some Dawn dishwashing soap (the concetrated blue original). A strong solution in water will strip wax and not harm the fiberglass at all (or paint). That is what we use to strip the old wax off the fiberglass boats before buffing in new wax. If it takes the wax off and you are left with a cap that no longer appears to have pealing clearcoat, you found the problem. Just strip and rewax. Nice thing about the Dawn test is you can take a sponge and just do a small area before you do the whole cap.

I will give it a try, I have never seen wax peel like this, and since I have never waxed it with more than Ice spray wax i will be shocked if that is it. I did notice the flakes i found were soft after the rain, I would think gel coat would be hard and fragile. thank you

"IF" it is clear coat over paint (not gelcoat) that is flaking off, then chances are they used a CHEAP clear coat. a cheap brand of clear coat can fail in continuous sunlight/heat within a year or two, but quality material will last many years.

Are you sure the dealer didn't add some sort of "paint protection" package prior to your purchase"

Good news, the cap manufacturer has decided to repair the cap under warranty. I am grateful for this and appreciate them covering this defect. I hope all goes smooth
