Completing Stereo System Upgrade, need Speaker Replacement Opinions

Hello all... so, I have completed the replacement of the Concertone Stereo system in my SV291 with a Jensen 970... great unit and I am almost where I want to be. However, the speakers just aren't quite up to the challenge and I am planning on replacing them.

So.... I thought I would get suggestions from anyone on here who might have already done this. Speakers look to be 6" in diameter, and appear to be the plain, white cheapo concertone speakers.

As a side note... I would like to find some speakers with pivoting tweeters in them, so I can get some throw into the living area of the trailer.

Thanks in advance!

Infinity makes some speakers with pivoting tweeters. They are at a fixed angle and turn more than pivot, but are pretty good and getting the sound where you want it. I replaced my junk speakers with a 6x9 version and am very pleased. It made my cheapo Magnadyne head unit sound expensive. They also make some 6- 1/2 inch ones which would probably fit if you looked at the cutout requirements.

I used 6" Jensen 2-Way speakers. But I don't see the ones that I bought on their website anymore. And they don't have directional capability. They work great though. More bass and more clarity.

Or if you want to spend some cash, you can check into a Bose speaker system, the new cube size are smaller now and have a better sound then the older ones.

Thanks for all the input so far guys... I will see if I can get some pics posted sometime this weekend.

I think just about any 6 1/2" that is <3" deep will work on these cutouts. I do like the infinities that were mentioned... I am trolling eBay as we speak.

I see this is an old thread. I have a Concertone Stereo system ZX 500. To the left is a docking station and it appears to be for an IPod. However my IPod Classic doesn't fit. Do you still have the system that you removed and does it have an IPod docking station, and if so would you be interested in selling it.
Thanks Kevin

The "IPod" dock is not for an IPod. It is for a Skyfi3 XM satellite radio.

If you go to the concertone web site you can buy a replacement dock for IPod.

Most likely the previous owner kept the radio for his car. We switch ours back and forth also since for 30 bucks you can buy the car kit for the trailer control head.

We don't take the DW's car with us when we use the camper so there has been no conflicts. If I am working at the camper and DW needs her car I slip an MP3 CD into the concertone.
