Concord 300DS plastic cover over hole in bathroom floor

We have a 2018 Coachmen Concord 300 DS. Next to the head on the bathroom floor is a black plastic cover over a hole. The black plastic cover has broken leaving the hole exposed, furthermore the cover fell in the hole.

What is this floor "hole" for? I have covered it with clear Gorilla tape. Can someone please advise what it is and if it is ok to cover with tape until I get it repaired.

it's most likely a cold air return for the furnace. Ok to cover in the summertime, but needs to be open when the furnace is in use.

Thank you so much. I figured it was something to do with furnace. I have a new cover on the way. Now I need to figure out how to get the old plastic cover out of tree as it fell in the hole!

It probably just fell into the furnace compartment, not into the furnace. Check the area around the furnace and you'll most likely find it. Mine goes into the basement, but I have a fifth wheel.
