we hve a 2005 cherokee travel trailer and we ar trying to use the generator that we have, i can get power inside the unit but when we turn the inside lights on then we loose the power. i have tried the generator with another unit and it works good, we were told that the converter charge may not be working right, i need to know when the converter is located
The easiest way to check your Converter/Charger is using a multimeter. If you don't own one you need to go get one. They can be bought very cheaply at Radio Shack or Home depot. Set to check DC voltage you plug in your RV to power and then check the voltage at the batteries. The voltage should read between 13.2 and 13.6 volts and it can get as high as 14.4 if you have a 3-stage charger. If you don't get this then the charger may be bad but first you need to check the fuses on the Converter/charger to see that they are good.
Sorry I do not know where your converter/charger is located on that rig but I am sure there will be someone here that does.
