Went to pick up my TT from storage at the dealer last weekend. After hooking it up, I took a walk around the TT to check the tires etc., when I noticed that my shore power cord door was slightly open (I never leave it open and always close the little "notch" to keep as many critters and such out as best as possible). When I looked into the opening I didn't see my 30 amp cord. At first I thought some a**hole pushed it inside as a sick joke.
Come to find out as I asked some of the techs working there, they had a rash of break-ins over the winter. As in my case, several shore power cords were pulled out and cut off to be sold for the copper content. Several other units (mostly 5ers), were broken into and the LCD televisions were stolen (and it wasn't pretty, doors and frames were pretty well mangled as they used prybars to get in or broke windows). I had taken my LCD's out for the winter so, if they looked in, they could see that they were not there.
Funny how the local Sheriff's Mobil Command Center 5er wasn't touched!!
The general manager said he would replace my cord one time and would understand if I no longer wanted to store it there. He stated that short of fencing in the entire property or putting a guard on duty (which would raise the cost of storage etc.) that's about all he could offer at this time. They replaced my cord in 30 minutes.
I think I'll convert mine to the detachable shore power type cord.
Anyway everyone, just be aware of what the economy has reduced some people to resort to, to get by.
