Dodge Promaster service? and keys

Does anyone know which Dodge dealers in the Philadelphia area can service a motorhome on a Dodge Ram Promaster chassis?

My usual Dodge/Jeep dealer (David Dodge) can not lift the RV due to ceiling height.

I wanted to get s spare ignition key as is my habit. Two came with the vehicle that I bought last week. Stopped at the dealer today and was shocked at the cost. $150 for the key ordered from the factory. Then $58 to the dealer for programming, all plus sales tax. Outrageous.

Key for my 2013 Sunseeker with a chip was $26 from the Chevy dealer.

Bobby

It's not just a key, is it?

I would guess, it is a remote fob as well.

Yes, you are correct it is a remote fob also. Still, too much $$$ in my opinion.

Hi I wanted to have an extra key for my 2012 ram I just bought and was blow en back by the 150.00 + 60 to program and cut key. I went to the the internet and found the site (replace my remote) went though entering all the information for my truck they needed and they had the remote/key I needed. The new remote/key cost shipped to me was $72.00. Brought the new remote/key to dealer they programmed and cut the door key for $60.00. Replacement Keyless Entry Remotes and Key Fobs Replace My Remote

Hope This Helps Tim

Thanks, I will check it out. The Dodge dealer said they can't cut those keys, it has to be done at the factory.

I am wondering that there may be a difference between "real" Dodge trucks and Promasters.

Hi ace hardware said that they can cut the key when I asked them. I would check around with your local hardware store or key shop.

Hope this helps Tim

I was quoted the same price for a Mazda Millenia I owned and I had to show proof of ownership before it was ordered.

It was just a key....

Struck out at Ace. They had a blank for a Dodge Ram 3500 but not for the Promaster 3500 chassis.

Seems excessive to me. I have no proof but that key can't cost more than a few bucks to produce. If so, then Dodge is telling me to buy another brand next time.

Keys are not just a metal shank anymore.

Call around. Call each of the big three dealers, ask what a key is worth.

" I'm not buying your brand anymore, cause your keys cost too damn much" ... Lol.

Earlier this year I bought Chevy keys, no fob but a chip. $26 from dealer. A few years ago keys for an Impala were much less than $100.

I will ask about my Ford keys when I take this Dodge to my Ford dealer for a state inspection. The local Dodge dealers can't lift it.

Do you have the " switchblade " key?

Or the one that looks like a pear. ( no shank)

Right.

Now look at the shank itself.
That's a fiat key...

Think your local ace hardware can cut that??
Things change.
Many vehicles can be started with a shank key.

Everything has a price.
Just be glad you are not buying a Mercedes proximity key...
