I used it during a trip thru Nebraska and noticed a definite drop in MPG.

Here in Nebraska they just passed a law where only premium now will be ethanol free. That's why I moved to diesel. It is more expensive but I get way better mileage. Ethanol makes the engine run hotter and you get terrible MPG

Not to mention it causes corrosion in fuel system components, increased corn prices, increased CO2 emissions, in addition to the crappy mileage. Ethanol is one if the greatest boondoggles perpetuated upon the American public in the 21st century.

What you are getting in the long run is a screwed up engine. Even the EPA now admits that ethanol is doing more harm than good, of course the policy hasn't changed any.
It's worse on small engines; lawns mowers, motorcycles etc. How many folks would knowingly poor sugar into their gas tanks?
Anyway, Once a month it's a bottle of Gumout or some other fuel cleaner to try and keep things clean.

I don't think anybody around here even sells it. DW's minivan is setup for FlexFuel, but I have yet to encounter a gas station that offered anything different than Gas (Regular, Midgrade, Premium) or Diesel.
And even diesel's getting harder to find in the city. Most of the corner store shops are running gas only. To get diesel you need to go to one of the stations on a major artery.

I use the Marine grade (blue) Sta-bil year round in all my small engines. Cheap insurance to attempt to slow the damage.

Thanks to Archer Daniels Midland and big business. Ethanol, won't hurt current automobiles, but is of no benefit either.

You cannot get pure gasoline where I live. It's all got the standard 10% blend. I dislike it.

I found out the hard way what it will do to a motorcycle. If you're one who prefers to work on a motorcycle then by all means, Ethanol is your friend. If you like to ride the thing though, maybe stay away from it.
I'm not too worried about what this blended stuff does to the engine as much as what it does to the generator. Small engines seem to suffer the most from this stuff.

For anyone using small engines such as saws, pumps, weed eaters, etc. Try something like True Fuel ( Home Depot) or Stihl Motomix. Both are 92 octane with no ethanol, premixed 50:1 and had stabilizers. This stuff works awesome in small 2 strokes. Easy starting after sitting with no use also. Don't have to worry about gaskets and seals rotting with the ethanol. I use it at home and work.
As for e85 (85% regular/ 15% ethanol) as it's called around here, it's garbage like everyone else says. Even with flex fuel calibration, still not worth it.

Other than a daily driver I would not use ETHANOL in any small engine or a vehicle that sits for long periods of time.
Anything two cycle will be harmed by using ETHANOL especially in "COLD WEATHER"!
buy 87 non ETHANOL if you have to.

The BEST most IMPORTANT thing YOU can do if ETHANOL is your only fuel CHOICE available is to completely fill the tank with gas to NOT ALLOW or COMPLETELY minimize AIR!

Ya can't buy what isn't available. You can't find non ethanol gas in NC. Haven't seen it available in the last 15 yrs or more. I don't like it, but have no choice. Haven't really seen any ill effects from it other than reduced mileage.

You always have a choice. But I doubt you'd want to move out of state just to avoid ethanol.

Have not seen any ill effects of it other than reduced mileage, so it's not a big deal. We travel to FL every year and it's not available anywhere on the way, so why worry about it. I agree it's a big boondoogle, but we can't do anything about it until things change and I don't believe that's going to happen.

X2
While on vacation in Mississippi earlier this year, I saw many stations advertising 100% gasoline. Couldn't figure it out, but now I do BTW I drive a diesel.

The Quick Trip station listed for Concord (6 miles from our house) has been gone for 3 yrs and I'm not driving all over the state trying to find something I don't see a need for.
