Exterior Sliding Storage Bin ?

I don't know how many FR models have one of these but my Flagstaff 25FKS does. It's a nice idea that to build in a storage tray in a long narrow compartment, but the system they've installed is far to bulky and takes away too much of the actual compartment.

I'm going to try and remove the tray and slide. Has anyone else already tried removing it?

Update - very easy job. Had to crawl in but only 6 screws to remove and out it pops. MUCH more room now.
