have done this a few times and works like a charm.
Remove basket or stopper from sink and run a small amount of water in sink.
Fill a plastic water bottle or plastic baby bottle full or water. Quickly invert the bottle and place it into sink drain and give it a forceful squeeze into the drain. The water will be force into sink and remove any minor blockage.
Having water in the sink will keep any water from being sprayed back up towards you.
Give it a try next time your sink is slow to drain and keep that nasty plunger out of the sink
