Flexible 50AMP extension cords

Looking for a flexible 30 foot 50AMP RV extension cord. Anyone tried the TRC (Technology Research Corp.) RV Flex 50A cord? Cost a little more than the Camco cord but would be worth it if it is indeed more flexable and easier to handle, especially in colder weather.
Any suggestions?

If you want flexibility check out Glendinning rv pre-made extension cables or bulk cable to terminate yourself. They are expensive but 50 amp cable will coil like a wet noodle no matter what the temp..

Even down to freezing I dont seem to have an issue with the 50A cords. They are a pain, but really its more about how to roll them then it is flex.

do tell your secrets sir!!?? ive tried the figure 8 and every coiling variant known to man...

I CAN get it into a semi decent looking roll, but at freezing its a workout and I look like im wrestling an alligator....

heck if im not going far I just toss it in the back of the truck like a cold dead body...lol

I can roll my 30ft 30amp cord up on my arm even when freezing....its like a spaghetti noodle (al dente)..it weighs half the 50amp as well...

I roll mine into a 5 gallon bucket. I haven't done it when it's very cold but it works pretty well. Having it constrained inside of the bucket keeps it pretty tidy. You have to be methodical about keeping it tidy as you go, but it works well for me.

I will say, with back to back weekend trips (Fri-Mon and then Fri-Sun), I just threw the thing into the back of the truck this past time.

I tried the 5 gal lowes bucket thing.......big fat no with a 32 degree cord..was like trying to coil a piece of pvc into the bucket....lol

if I worked it over real good, it was going in slowly...one coil and a LOT of pushing at a time...I didn't feel it was in the cords best interest to continue with the expirement.

I would buy a new cord but its hard to justify replacing a perfectly good 30ft cord for no reason...although my sanity is pretty motivating..lol

I watched a friend use the cord reel...I really liked it, but my only complaint was that it just drags the cord in....over water, mud,or whatever was on the ground.....

hmmm

Interesting- we've never packed up in that cold of weather. 40-45 has been our lowest.

Yeah, I hear you on that. You could wipe it off as you go, but it's still dirty work. But truthfully- my bucket winding isn't much different.

That's a good point. For the most part, I use 50amp solely for the ability to run to air conditioners. In cold weather, running just 30amps should be fine.

Have the camco 30', takes 3 to reach the power post in the paddock of my local race track. If its under 32f I roll them around the outside of a 5 gallon bucket without issue, get a good roll each time and have reusable ties I use to lasso two sides of the coil to keep it happy.

Otherwise, in warmer weather I use figure 8s and fold in half and still get a decent roll out of it.

And actually I do this as well sometimes...BUT when its 30 out I like my fireplace AND another space heater and my microwave etc.....the 50 lets me run whatever I want and a coffee pot on top of that

Use the 5 gal bucket. It holds the adapters and surge protector too.

The 1st time wasn't the easiest. I put the trailer connection in first. It's made of wire. Just like when we use 1" winch line on dozer it takes several times of spooling in and out to "train" the cable. A new line works the operator more to keep the wraps even and tight.

Now power line can be in the less than two minutes probably.
