FR Skylight Replacement Letter

We purchased a 2012 Rockwood Roo 19 last year and received a certified letter yesterday from Forest River concerning issues with 2011/early 2012 Rockwood and Flagstaff skylights. The letter stated that "a small percentage" of these Alpha Systems skylights have become brittle and cracked. It says to have a dealer inspect the skylight, but I wanted to first check it myself. From inside the unit, I do not see any signs of cracks, but I have not gone on the roof yet, which I plan to do this weekend.

Has anyone else received this certified letter with a similar year/model or had problems with their skylights? When I go on the roof, will it be obvious that there is a problem or should I plan on taking it in and letting them look at it? My concern is after the trouble of taking it in they will visually inspect it and see no signs of cracking and say it is fine. If I know what to look for I would rater first inspect myself before going through the trouble of taking it in.

If anyone has had this issue and can give me advice on how to inspect myself and what to look for i would appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply. Were the cracks easily noticable by you from the roof?

we had water dripping from inside of skylight in bathroom.went on roof and saw cracks around out side edge before the calking.looks like when they screwed it down they tightened screws too tight and during cold it cracked, had dealer replace and check roof,so far it never leaked during summer.will see if its ok this spring.

Can you scan the letter and post it? I bought a 2012 Rockwood Mini-lite 2109S in Feb of 2012. Curious to see if I am affected but have not received a letter.
Thankd

We have the 2012 ultralight rockwood fifth wheel and we also got the letter about the skylight. Our letter said to inspect from the roof. "It is easy to determine whether or not a skylight is affected as it will have a white, cloudy, appearance near the flange and will likely display small cracks." , so the letter says.
So far ours looks ok, hope yours is too.

Received a letter yesterday also. Our flagstaff is already at dealer for a slide issue so called and informed them of letter. The service people checked and found a crack so are replacing the skylight. We have a 2012 Flagstaff 5th wheel.

Is this issue on all FR products? We looked at 2012 Surveyor 305, ended up in a Coachman that appears to use the same skylight.

Forest River Skylight Replacement

The letter states, "A limited number of Rockwood and Flagstaff units were manufactured in late 2011/early 2012 with Alpha Systems clear, polycarbonate skylights which were sealed with the aid of a primer. A very small percentage of these skylights have become brittle and have cracked in the field. It is easy to determine whether or not a skylight is affected as it will have a white, cloudy appearance near the flange and will likely display many small cracks."

Letter goes on to tell you to let dealer or Rockwood, Flagstaff service center know about problem and have it checked.

Hope this helps

We received the letter as well for our 2013 Rockwood SUL. DH checked yesterday but said there were no indications of any problem.
