When we put the RV away for the winter, we would sanitize at the beginning of the season.

Now that we fulltime, we sanitize when the water starts getting funky and I can spare going without usable water for 24 hours.

The method is the same- pour the appropriate amount of bleach into the fresh water hose and fill the fresh water tank. Run water through each tap until we smell bleach at them.

Usually just beginning of the year but if the camper sits for a month or so without use, I add some bleach and do a quick sanitize. In all honesty, 10 minutes should kill any bacteria and a quick rinse for smell/taste.
I have a friend that’s camped for 30 years and never fully sanitizes but adds a couple capfuls of bleach at most tank fills.
