I tighten mine up just as tight as I can -within reason. If you make it too tight, you won't be able to turn without bending or breaking something. Depending on what you are pulling - and your tow vehicle sway, I would just snug it up within reason, then TRY IT. If you start to see any sway, tighten it a little more- 1/2 to 1 full round, until sway is eliminated.
I had the largest Coleman pop up, and I used the sway control every time, and it really worked well with that. I have a Reese dual cam set up on my Flagstaff 30 footer, and I still use 1 friction control, too. Randy
