FrictionType Sway Bar

The directions on my Reese friction type sway bar say to tighten it down till the threads are bottomed out. The dealer said not to do this. Who is right?

Reese.
They are talking about the lever. Don't mess with the adjustment nut.
If you find the lever is too hard to turn by hand you might try a drop
of oil on the threads.

Good Luck!

I tighten mine up just as tight as I can -within reason. If you make it too tight, you won't be able to turn without bending or breaking something. Depending on what you are pulling - and your tow vehicle sway, I would just snug it up within reason, then TRY IT. If you start to see any sway, tighten it a little more- 1/2 to 1 full round, until sway is eliminated.
I had the largest Coleman pop up, and I used the sway control every time, and it really worked well with that. I have a Reese dual cam set up on my Flagstaff 30 footer, and I still use 1 friction control, too. Randy
