Fuel Station Works... Sort Of

Have a '05 Sierra Sport T26. Bought used, fuel station worked. Took it out a few times, fuel staion worked. Took it out last time, fuel station worked...sort of. Before, when I turned on switch inside and turned on the switch outside, the pump made continuous noise and then delivered fuel when I squeezed the nozzle handle. Last time I turned on switch inside and turned on the switch outside, the pump made a short noise and then stopped making any noise. No fuel was delievered when I squeezed the nozzle handle. Now, when I turn on the inside switch, squeeze the nozzle handle, and THEN turn on the outside switch fuel is delivered! What's up with that?

loose connection second time ? lost its prime the second time ? the first time you used it it may have air in the line causing the pump to make noise ?
