Generator exhaust
Have a riverstone 39fl with generator , the exhaust pipe is very low to ground, will scrape or knock off going in lots to get fuel! The exhaust is lower than the front jack! The dealer put generator in and said it was fine! Coming home from dealer in Ga. to NC had to watch every entrance I turned into to keep from hitting! My question is how many inches from bottom of RV should it be! I am thinking 2 -3” at the most! Going to have to redo exhaust to raise!

If you raise it so it's as close as you suggest, make sure to put a heat shield above the muffler. A metal plate attached using 1" or so spacers right above the muffler will keep the radiant heat from the muffler from damaging anything above it. Wouldn't hurt to see if you couldn't deflect some of the air flow from the generator fan towards the muffler and heat shield too. Sometimes just a piece of sheet metal installed in the cooling air flow as it leaves the genset is enough to dissipate heat from the muffler and the space between heat shield and floor.

If it's just the tail pipe then you could probably wrap it with some insulating material like used on marine "dry stack" exhaust systems.
That or some of the adhesive backed heat shield material that you find under hoods and just stick it to the floor above the pipe. The muffler is the main "heat radiator" as that's partly how it quiets the exhaust. By cooling it down before it goes down the exhaust pipe.

certainly looks too low to me... need to cut a section out of that J pipe and make it higher off the ground...... dealer took the shortest route not the best route...

That is what I was thinking! Take it loose and take to muffler shop to cut off pipe and put flare back on and bolt back up, the pipe is 7” from the bottom of rv now, maybe cut 31/2”off

Only needs to be about two down. Wrap it if too hot running, but I doubt that will be needed.

Mine on my Coachmen Concord C is about 2" below the body. Somebody got lazy and didn't want to cut and re-flare the pipe.

It's called "Mass Production" one size fits all. They would have to teach everyone on the assembly line how to shorten it.
Go to any muffler shop and have it corrected.

GFAR you are correct in thinking that you can alter that exhaust pipe. Figure out how much you want to raise it, take it to a competent muffler shop and they can cut it to length and form a new swage in it. The idea of placing some type of heat dissipating material to the bottom of the coach is also a good idea.
