Generator Problem

I was recently on a 2 week trip out west and had a problem with my generator when we headed into las vegas. It was very hot (104) and we were left Vegas and headed North and of course started generator and AC before we left the parking lot. Very soon after the generator was running but it was not producing electricity. I opened the outside compartment and noticed the breaker on the generator was tripped. I reset the breaker only to have it happen again within 10 minutes. Once we got North and the temperature settled down I was able to reset it and it stayed on the rest of the trip home to Ohio. Anyone have any ideas other than the heat? Seems excess heat shouldn't cause this to happen.

Did you have other items on in addition to ac such as fridge &/or elec hot water heater? If so that may have caused the overload

I did have the fridge on and the hot water tank. These item use propane while on the road and DC power I thought. Even so would be very little extra draw on the power. I also figured if there was an overload a breaker would pop inside the coach breaker box not the generator breaker. Generator continued to run fine just wasn't outputting power.

Probably not the cause of your problem but the fridge and water heater do use 110v. If the water heater is electric switched on it will use both gas and electric at the same time to heat the water. The fridge will use use gas if there is no 110v available if the switch is set to auto. Anytime 110v ac is available it will switch over to that unless you set it to use gas only.
