Question Heavy rain...weird electrical glitch!

We ran into very heavy rain in Minnesota last week, and all of a sudden, my dashboard backup screen was coming on every time I touched the brakes or used my directional signals! The unit is wired to come on automatically when I shift into reverse, but this has me boggled! Obviously, there is a crossed connection somewhere, but I have no idea where to start looking! The problem disappeared 24 hours after the rain ended...I can find no signs of water leaking into the coach. We are pulling a small U-Haul trailer with a 4-pin connector, but disconnecting it made no difference. Any ideas?

Hmm. Not familiar with your coach. But...

Look for a backup light switch on your transmission somewhere. That most likely is the ground for your backup lights and power for the camera. If water is getting through the rubber boot cover or into the waterproof socket (whichever you have), it could be finding a ground when wet.

They could have also wired the camera power into the 7-way tow connector. If the connector got wet it could pass power to the camera whenever you applied the brakes or used the turn signals.

Never thought of that...although I thought it must have something to do with the trailer wiring! Thanks....I will check it out
