Question Help no trailer running lights

Good Morning Fellow Rv ers

I had a camera on the rear of my camper hooked to the running lights. Apparently the camera has taken on water and shorted. Of course now my running lights are not working on the trailer only- truck fuse is ok, but was replaced, as well. My question is; is there an inline fuse under the A frame in a junction box?? Salem Hemisphere GLX 282RK

Thanks for any help!!!!

No there are no fuses on/in the TT for the running lights. Most newer TV have separate fuses for the TV and the towed vehicle.. Check your owners manual for the location of the fuse block that contains the TT fuses. Usually in a different spot from the TV fuse block.

Thanks Flybob

It appears all the fuses are under my hood - I replaced the fuse that appears to be for the running lights, but still not working - turn and stop lights are working

The fuses for the towed vehicle in your 2018 Ram 2500 is:
F29 -- trailer Tow Parking Lights
F53 -- Trailer Tow - Left Turn/Stop Lights
F81 -- Trailer Tow Right Turn / Stop Lights
F30 -- Trailer Tow Receptacle
F28 -- Trailer Tow Backup Lights

Make sure you actually test them as they can look good but be blown.

Thanks Bama Rambler!!

Yes, testing is a must.. 29 is the one blowing - it appears i have a short on the
trailer somewhere - i have already checked the ground to chassis wire coming out of the junction box, and everything looks good on the inside - starting to check thru the clearance lights, but nothing yet

Good grounds isn't the goal, a hot 12 volt wire to the running lights is pinched somewhere. Start at the 7 pin female on the trailer a-frame and work your way back. I think the running lights positive wire is brown.
Look at places where the brown wire gets pulled, tugged, twisted or vibrated.
How did you power the camera? Did you use one of those 3M blue splices?
Invest in a multimeter.
This can cause havoc with 12 volt systems.

If you believe that it's the camera that has shorted, make sure you've disconnected it from the running lights circuit before you do anything else - or you'll just keep blowing fuses.

Okay, you seem to have established that the problem is in the trailer. Did you actually power up the Tow Vehicle with the trailer unplugged to satisfy yourself that the fuse DOES NOT BLOW when the trailer connector is disconnected?

Has the trailer connector been abused? On our small trailer, the outside jacket had shrunk over time and pulled free from the strain relief clamp on the connector. My buddy decided to "help" me and loosened the clamp, then shoved the cable in with all his might. Then he tightened the clamp.

This process broke off the somewhat corroded right-turn contact and caused it to touch another contact. This was a somewhat difficult problem to find.

Also check the box where the trailer's umbilical terminates and connects to trailer wiring. The running light wire in the umbilical is usually brown. See what color they have connected it to, and trace that wire.

This is where I would be looking. It worked before the camera and you have a short after the camera. Disconnect the camera and look for a possible short in the wiring that was used to connect the camera. Water does not usually short 12VDC circuits.

Hello Everyone! Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.......

I found the problem, at least one problem - the wiring to my first amber marker

was pulled tight over the frame member, and was shorted - no cover or anything protecting the wire - this should fix my issue, but will check the other areas as well....

Thanks for all your help!!!!

Great inputs for future wiring issues.
