Help with bumper grill mount

Hi everyone, I am out at a campground right now and thought I would attach the grill to the mount that came on this trailer. But I can't figure out what is missing (if anything) to mount this thing. Can anyone help me figure out what I need? Do I need to drill a hole and use nuts and bolts to mount this or is there something else that is supposed to come with this set up.

Didn't you get an instruction sheet with the kit? If not,you might call the manufacture for one or Goggle for one.

Until you know what to do,don't drill any holes.

I got the instructions manual and the only thing it says is how to mount the grill itself to the bracket, but not how to mount the bracket to the mount that's attached to the bumper. I'll try to dig further online for this mount and see what I can find. Thank you!

The last grill i had was not a permanent mount but I had to take it on and off the number monte very time I used it. There were basically3 parts. The bumper mount, the bracket that attached to the mount and grill, and the grill.

Looks like the white "reversed c channel" should go over your top edge then slide in underneath. No different than a BBQ rail of a sidekick grill.

Looks like the Aussie grill we have on our Palomini. All you so is slip the top channel over the backplate. The weight of the mounted grill keeps it from moving around. We have had our trailer a couple of years now and while the grill is somewhat bouncy nothing has broken and it is secure enough for its intended purpose.

So I am assuming this particular mount can't be used while in travel like some of the others

I don't understand your question about being used while in travel. If you mean can it be left mounted while driving so you can just stop and start grilling, no it needs to be stowed each time you move the trailer. Even if you were to add bolts the frame isn't strong enough to handle the weight and flexing you get while driving.

Some Forest River campers have grills that are designed to stay on while traveling.

Mine came with a grill and spare tire for a total weight of 138lbs attached to the rear bumper from the factory. I guess the folks at FR/PT don't agree with you that it won't hold the weight.

The heritage glen I looked at had the grill mounted on the bumper, even for travel. But I'm thinking it is a different design. This one when the grill is attached seems to stick out further than the one on the heritage glen. Plus the bracket attached to the grill is extremely flimsy. Not sure I would trust it bouncing down the road after thinking about it. It's just a severe PITA to stow it away all the time.

I was talking about the grill frame that is used to hang the grill to the trailer mount. You can see it in pictures of the first post. I have the exact same grill on my trailer. The tubes are thin walled steel and the two pieces of the frame are held together with wing bolts/nuts. Again if you look at the picture the clips visible on the cross bar are where the back of the grill attaches. The front is about another foot from that. There is no way that frame will carry the weight of the grill while traveling without breaking sooner than later. The trailer mount could most likely handle the weight but it would take modification to actually be able to use it for a permanently mounted grill.
