Honda Eu2000i Generator

I just bought a brand new EU2000i generator to power our new 2010 Surveyor SP186. I was told I would need at least a 3000 to even start my AC but low and behold, it fired it up with no problem. I then cranked it on HIGH COLD and it did fine. What gives????

Really?!

I too have a EU2000i (2000 watt Honda generator)
I too was told the same thing.
I too would like to know "What gives???"
If an "RV electrician" can explain it that would be wonderful!

It's not unusual for a 2000i to start a 13.5k btu A/C. Especially if everything's brand new and there are no other loads running, and you're at or close to sea level. The recommendation for paralleling two 2000's is because the starting current of the A/C and the fact that the A/C is not usually the only thing you want to run.

Elevation makes a huge difference. We just got back from camping at 9,000 feet in the Bg Horns. Our EU2000i struggled to run the microwave there.
