How do lights work

I have a 2012 Rockwood Premier pop up. It seems that when we “dry camp” the only items that work are the refrigerator, (when switched to 12v, the hot water and furnace ( both gas). Why do none of the lights work?

When dry camping, you should be running the fridge on propane, not 12V. The fridge will rapidly drain your battery on 12V

There is a switch (usually a plunger-type switch) that turns off the lights (and vent fan if you have one) when the camper roof is lowered. This to prevent the heat from the lights damaging your camper. This switch can get misaligned or broken or the wires come loose.

If you have a swing or fold-down galley, the switch is normally located to be triggered when the galley is in the set up position. Newer Forest River campers (especially A-frames) put the switch in the front left corner at the top of the camper box, where it is hidden by the cloth valence.

hope this helps

The lights should be the first things to work. Check the plunger switch.
