Hydraulic jacks

I had my hydraulic jacks extended with control panel turned off. When I started my motorhome engine the jacks automatically started to retract does anyone know why that would happen

On certain systems if there is no ebrake signal they will emergency retract. It's kind of a self preservation thing. I think mainly Atwood, lci, and some power gear come to mind.

It all depends on how the factory wired up your jacks. I have owned several RV's through the years and some of them would automatically retract if the engine started. Others would not do the automatic retract until the transmission was put into drive. In either case it's a safety issue for those individuals who forget to retract their jacks before trying to drive away.
