Install Exhaust fans in ceiling vents when there are none?

My 2015 Salem CruiseLite 195BH has 2 manually operated vents in the ceiling but they do not have exhaust fans installed. Matter of fact there are no exhaust fans anywhere. So I want to install an exhaust fan in the ceiling vents and not sure if it possible because I am not sure if I can run the wiring to a 12V source or not. I haven't tried yet but I was thinking I could use my fish tape and pull wires above the ceiling and splice into one of the ceiling lights close by. What do you think? Even the AC does not have an exhaust setting on it.

if there are lights near by that have a constant 12v source i would use that. if the light is on a switch it would only work when you turned on the light

I've owned 6 RV's since 1998 ... never ever had an A/C that was capable of sucking air from inside the unit. As mentioned ... try tapping into a ceiling light near-by.

A lot of the newer campers have the wiring in place by the vent to install a Fantastic fan. Should fit right in the current opening. Later RJD

I pulled the bulbs from the fixture the Maxxair is tied into all the rest are turned off or on with the fixture toggle switch.

We have the same trailer and installed a vent fan in the bathroom. U can pull power from the light in the bathroom or if u put the vent in the main area u can pull power from the light in front of the door. U will need some extra wire to extend to the fan. It 18 ga wire, we had some left over from a new light fixture we installed in our house. We installed the vortex 1 speed fan and it helps a whole lot especially when cooking or taking a shower

We installed an exhaust fan in our 29fqc toy hauler just last week. I ordered the Vortex High Velocity RV Roof Vent Retrofit Kit from Amazon for $39.00. Everything goes in from the inside of the rv. No need to be on the roof, or break the existing vent seal. I liked that part. The instructions were blurry and kinda hard to read, but the kit went in easy and worked as advertised. I fished around for existing wires but found none. Luckily there was a ceiling light just inches away, so I connected to it with a little extra 18 gauge wire I had laying around. Hope this helps.

Not necessarily, a lot of the switches are wired from the feed to the light instead of from the switch to the light. They just cut the hot to the light and splice in the switch, so I found on mine.

With the Vortex fans you don't have to rip out the existing vents. Install in under an hour with no special tools. The only trick is whether there is power available at the vent or not. If not, finding power will be your biggest hassle.

Pull the vent trim and screen out and have a look around. Run some power to a 12 vdc light fixture and then order the fan you like.

This is what I did in pictures together with a PDF explanation. I carefully cut away the calking where the vent would fit. You do not have to cut everything away because you will go over the vent & old calking with the new. Be extremally careful not to cut the rubber roof. I cleaned the rubber roof where the new vent was going with break fluid, be sure to put it on the rag rub is on then off, because it will rot the roof.

Do (NOT) use (BRAKE FLUID) on your Rubber Roofs! By the posters Own admission it will Destroy the Roof! Youroo!!

That is why I said to put it on the rag & wipe it off immediately, it does clean the affected area. You are only cleaning the area where you are going to calk, unless you,(youroo) have a different product to use?

Politely but strongly disagree. Mineral spirits. And even then pour it on a rag and dab gently on the sealant (never the roof) you wish to remove. And place the open container in a tub in case you tip it over.

But if you insist on using acetone, follow the above rules. And wear gloves. But please, we can all agree on not using brake fluid. (Which will eat paint off your car, btw.)
