Is this water leakage or glue

We bought a new 2018 Cherokee 264L last March and I didn't notice these stains until our 1st trip with it . I took it back to the dealer and was told these stains are from glue that leeched out , not from a water leak . Dealer said they would repair it but they would have to take the entire rear of the trailer off to replace the panels or put some wider trim pieces on to hide it better . We have towed it over 3000 miles and used it about 30 nights and been in several heavy rains and I can't find any sign of leaks or moisture anywhere . I really don't want them to pull the rear of trailer off to replace these panels if it's not from a leak ,but I also don't want to take an extra hit on it if I ever sell or upsize later . Would you have them repair it or live with it ?

To me, neither option is good. I certainly wouldn't want them taking the back wall of my trailer that isn't currently leaking and possibly having a leak afterwards. I also wouldn't be happy with myself for missing it during my PDI and now worrying about hurting the trade in or sale value.

IF I were you, I think I would be brainstorming on a way to hide the glue staining because everyone that see's your trailer or looks at it if you go to sell or trade in is going to think the same thing you and I thought when we saw the pics. "oooooh, water damage" and your explanation is going to sound like BS because they won't know for sure.

I couldn't tell but are those two pics from the same wall? If so, maybe a good scrubbing with some coarse sandpaper, a coat of Kilz Primer and then a "Painted Accent Wall" is an option? Or some other less drastic solution than pulling off a wall.

I would check paint stores like Sherwin Williams for a fabric backed vinyl wallpaper to cover the panels that are stained (Kilz applied over stains first).

Personally I would first make sure that it is not a leak. To have the dealer fix it properly, you will probably loose the use of the trailer for the 2019 season or at least a good part of it.

I doubt that you will take a hit on trade in to a dealer, esp if you make it look good cosmetically. We have never had a dealer spend more than a minute inside of a trailer when evaluating it for a trade........ I can walk through the door spend 30 seconds in a camper and tell you if I am going to look further at a used trailer or move on to another one.........

If it's cosmetic on the wall, I would contact Cherokee factory for a piece of vinyl to match it. I had good size dents form chairs bump the walls. The techs from Wildcat came out and plastered over the dent and then glued the vinyl wallpaper matching the pattern. In the end the repair blended in.

Another vote to use a moisture meter. Home inspection people will have them. Give one a call, tell them basically what you need to know and that it is in an RV for a price quote.

It's cheaper just to buy a meter than to have someone come out and test it. Then you have the meter and can use it anytime.

That does not look like most glue stains I have seen. Appears to be from moisture on the horizontal surface wicking up from the wall/floor interface. May be something as simple as water on the floor from a partially open window or more serious from a leak.

Since it's showing up in several locations on the wall I would demand they do a pressure test to confirm if you have a leak or not, and where it's coming from. Best way to determine if a leak exist.

Update on my issues above . Well I finally quit procrastinating and sent an email to Forest River with the pictures of my stains . I received a reply the next day telling me it was a relativly simple warranty repair to remove the vinyl trim and then remove and replace the panels . No need to tear the rear of the trailer off Maybe I misunderstood the service employee and he was refering to removing the whole rear of the trailer as remove recliners , rear overhead cabinets and replace panels . Anyway dealer told me ONCE they received the panels they could have it repaired the same day. The folks at Forest River were very helpful now if they will just get the proper panels delivered in a timely manner . My very good and helpful dealer will have it ready soon.Thanks to everyone for the advice and responses .This forum rocks
