My awning would extend ok but made some noises when retracted. It would retract back slowly. Found out my problem was the awning arm struts/pistons. I lubed the shafts and haven't had a problem since.

I haven't greased the arms myself, but the Tech did say that the motor was taking a crap. The service manager also said that there supposedly "isn't" a problem with them, but they are going bad. I figure that if there wasn't an issue, Lippert wouldn't have a few month backorder on awning motors. Regardless, my awesome dealership is getting me all squared away.

Good thought on the wire reversal, Witch Doctor, but that did not help. Anyway, thanks for the idea. Guess I'll keep waiting on the parts that the dealership ordered.

I think I remember that the spring has to be wound 11 times to set the tension. I have two awnings, so I bought 2 extra new motors from the salvage yard in Goshen. Last year they were 40.00 and this year they were 50.00 they do ship... PS: when mine start to strain, I put wd40 on the pivot points and it will just fly back in. If it's starting to shake bringing it in it's time to lube the pivots point. You might call dometic they can tell you how many winds for sure. Be Careful there is alot of tension on the spring.
Doc.....please tell me about the salvage yard in Goshen. Is there a website or phone number you can share.
Thank you

I'll have to find name out for you and get back to you, it's a couple miles down the road from the fairgrounds. This Amish guy has about any part you could think of. .....

I got the info for you from Sid Brown here it is, use to be called D&D but changed the name but here is the info
We think its called Petunia's now:
12678 county rd 34
Goshen In. 46506
574-642-3316
They buy salvaged trailers from everyone, and tear them apart. Like I said bought a new awning motor with only a small blemish on it for 50.00 bucks, they have everything that a trailer would need...Good luck..
