LED Light Bulb - sources & recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a supplier/product links for LED replacements? Given the heat issues with a couple of my fixtures, I'd like to replace them. BUT- I like the color of what I have now (plain old incandescent bulbs) but wouldn't mind them being a little brighter. I hate to just buy a random product off of Amazon without some reference to what I'm looking for/at. Thoughts?

I have found that 4000-4500k led colour is closest to the incandescent light the old bulbs put out.

I have bought most of all my led's from random ebay sellers out of china. The only Issue I had was with my 1076 chandelier bulbs over the dinette. I purchased 4 of those from my local dealership and fingers crossed they work, as the one's from ebay (2 sets) didn't work.

Those cheap China LEDs from e-bay have their place. I got 20 of them for $30. They aren't very bright and horribly bluish, but for under cabinets, the potty room, storage bay and swivel reading lights they're OK. I have 15 installed in the trailer.

Just put 921 warm white bulbs from M4LED in my Clipper 17FQ. The light color is the same as the incandesant bulbs. Before, turning on one light fixture resulted in the converter cooling fan coming on. Now I can turn on every light in the unit and it doesnt come on! A bit expensive vs. some of the others. I believe you get what you pay for.

Regular incandescent bulbs are about 2700k color temp, so if you want to match that color then you need LED's that are somewhere between 2500k and 3000k in color temp.

4000k is a little whiter with some faint yellow.
5000k is pretty white
above 5000k and you're getting into the bluish color.
Sunlight is about 5000k.

I'll second (or is it now "third"?) this recommendation. I went with their "natural white" throughout my new Pursuit... they are somewhat "cooler" than standard incandescent lighting but not nearly as "blue" as the "cool white." Very pleased with the upgrade.

For my bathroom, garage, and even the bedroom I need "bright" lights. I bought some LED off Ebay and the one set is fine for some of the rooms but the garage is too dark, the bedroom in certain spots are dark and my wife says the color is about impossible for putting makeup on. In my house I have "daylight" halogens and am just now starting the switch to LED as they burn out.

I tried Warm White (4000K-4500K) in bathroom but not bright enough.
Cool White(7000k) is too "blue" which is what's in my garage and bedrooms. This was in the bathroom but just switched to warm light but don't care for them.

When selecting LED's (& CFL's to some extent) you need to look at two numbers.
Color Temp xxxxK & Lumens.

Color temp is the color of the light emitted and lumens is how bright it is.

If you're looking for the brightest bulb you can find. Once you find the correct base, you need to decide what color you want and then find one with the highest lumen output. If you want to match an incandescent lamp you can find the designed lumen output by searching the internet and then find an LED with about the same lumen output. As said earlier, incandescent lamps are about 2700k color temp.

I personally prefer white light (~5000k) and use it for everything. I do not like blue light and won't buy anything above about 5000k color.

It's going to take a while for us to adapt to the new way of rating lamps, but as time goes on we'll get there.

Even if you buy from US suppliers, the LED's were made in China (probably from the same factory). Shipping is fast from China, really a seamless transaction.

I had better luck with LED's that had light bars all around, rather than a flat plate. They just look better behind the moldings. The only lights I haven't changed in my rig are the spotlights, which we rarely use anyway.

Shipping from China is really difficult for me as we move every 1-2-3 weeks. I could have them sent to my mail service, but then I'd have to pay for shipping to wherever I am at the time.
