Lift up bed frame problems

In my 392FLFB the bed in the bedroom is a regular mattress and it sits on a flimsy metal frame that with the help of 2 pistons raises to get to the storage under the bed.

now its been almost a year and a half and the gf and i noticed that the middle was sagging as we were literally rolling into each other at night. We figured out that with either one of us on the bed there was no problem but if both of us were on it, it created the sag in the mattress and makes it uncomfortable.

well i lifted the mattress up and the metal frame and i see its bowed and at the ends the metal is torn..

so anyone know of a replacement or just a better way to do the under storage? i would be happy with just tearing it out and putting in some boards notched out to lay across the storage sides!

this is kinda what it looks like but only one bar down the middle with bowed wood from middle to sides. its the middle bar thats bent..

In our Bed, it gets good support because the pass through storage goes under it and only HALF the bed lifts up to access storage. Ours is Plywood though.

Cuz if you have a boxed frame like one in pic, maybe you can put a wood 2x4 vertically in the center of box length wise or even width wise.

kinda what i was thinking. take 2x4's, notch them so that they hook onto the edge of the box around the bottom. kinda makes it a pain to get to the storage underneath as we use it for bedding and clothes baskets etc etc.

What if you just added 1. You would still have room.

I think that that is much like mine. I just dismembered it
to repair rotten wall/floor and got a better look at how it
is put together. Mine has a wood platform for the mattress.
There is a wood cross member half way from head to foot.
The wood cross member is covered with a (steel) angle iron.
Both the wood and angle iron are supported by vertical
2x4s on each side, acting as jack studs. It is very solid......

cheers,
johnd
