Light on Electric jack not working on new cmpr

I just got my new camper and the light doesn't work on the electric jack. The tech at dealer said it's under warranty so bring it in to get fixed.
I won't haul the camper over for a light repair. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? The tech said to flip the switch a few times since it's new and it should work. I just hate taking this apart but guess I'll need to if I want to fix this issue.

It's an LED, not bulb.
Yeah, I know what you mean...was looking for help, not criticism.

Seems to me that youroo was giving you some good advice. Didn't see any criticism. Also, leds go bad, same as regular bulbs. Maybe take the whole jack into them if you don't want to take your entire rig. Or, bite the bullet and fix it yourself. Get out the old multimeter and determine where it's broke

If your jack is a Lippert (LCI) brand the light is a small circuit board with 3 LED's on it. The light in my LCI jack doesn't work either because of water intrusion. Take it back to the dealer and before you go check your TT over real good for any other warranty issues. Might as well go in with a list and make the trip worth it.

I believe Youroo was simply pointing out that for most items under warranty you
have to keep hands off the insides or you void the warranty.
It totally depends on your service writer at your dealer.
Some might be fine with you bringing in the bad LED board and many others would
not be fine and they'd balk at replacing since THEY didn't trouble shoot it first.

Also if you park your rig out in the open -not under a roof- the switches on these
and nearly all jacks are prone to water intrusion and failure.
It's a sad testament to the RV industry that they put these out in the weather on
these trailers and the electrics aren't water proof.
Many of us buy or make our own weather covers for our jacks- me included.
And don't forget the jack is literally exposed to hurricane conditions when you tow
in the rain!

Finally- if it was mine, I'd definitely take it apart and check the switch first.
Jump across the terminals and see if the light comes on.
I'm pretty sure you can find a switch on Ebay.
Do consider a weather cover as the switch that controls the jack is also prone
to crapping out if it gets wet.

Good luck!

It's straight from forest river, doubt if it's water intrusion. And I'm making a list but it's hard when everything else is working properly. So far, this is the only item defective.

I've only had the unit for a week and it's in my garage. No need to get a switch if this in its still under wth.
You must live on the east coast. Az doesn't have hurricane conditions.

In that case.... how bad do you need the light??
Live without it until you've got some months and miles on your new rig.
You are very lucky if you don't have a "punch list" for dealer repair!!

I made a vinyl cover for my lippert jack and zip tied it on there.
It's thin enough that I can feel the switches thru the cover so I never
take it off.
Of course I can't use the light but I don't care.
My jack motor/gears and switches are dry!!

Also my trailer has front lights that are way better than the measly light
on the jack so I don't miss it.

Did you try calling your service writer?? See if he's agreeable to you
taking it apart or bringing him the jack if that's what you want to do.
IF it were me--- as I said, I don't use the light because of my semi permanent rain cover.

Good luck!

I saw no critisism at all in the post at all. Fely like they were answering and advising the dealer may not warranty if you take things apart. I place a canvas bag with drawstring over my winch to prevent water getting in switches or light.

You certainly tend to misconstrue posts trying to help! You should reread the hurricane part.

If you are okay with using a multimeter, why not repair it yourself like what has been said? It could be as simple as a broken wire. If it is a switch or the LED, you are looking at maybe $10 in parts. For me, it would cost me about the same in gas to take my trailer to the dealer for the warranty on just that, much less the time it takes to get them to look at it and repair it. And honestly, most of those lights are jokes (mine is). Get a headband light and you will be happier.

YOU asked what to do about the non-operating light since you
have no other issues and don't want to tow it back to dealer for this
one little item.

WE suggested ways to address your light- including not using the light
since your jack needs a cover.

I'm pretty sure it does rain in AZ once in a while.
IF you're sure you will NEVER drive in the rain and it will NEVER rain
on your jack then you've go no worries about water intrusion.

Since it does rain in Kentucky and I have driven from Florida to Kentucky
in heavy rain more than once- MY jack was exposed to hurricane conditions for nearly 11 hours on one single trip.
Hard rain with LOTS of road over spray PLUS 70 MPH = hurricane
conditions at the jack.

Good luck!

Picked up a cover for the top of my jack at CW for around $10. Had a $10 coupon from Insurance renewal, so FREE. Last one I had lasted about 5 years before it deteriorated. As stated above can operate switches with cover on, works great to let jack up or down, not so well on the light. Use mine to cover jack when not towing.

Good luck with the repair what ever the decision.
I use one of the kids new style sports backpacks. Pull the strings tight and I am all set. I have a black one so it matches nicely.

Mine leaked water in around the gasket that seals the light. The problem was not the light. The water got in the switch and the switch had a severe case of electrolysis in the switch corroding the contacts. Cleaned up the circuit board and switch which I took apart. Put it all back together and put the light back in with the gasket straight not pinched crooked like it came from the factory. Added some silicone for good measure and still put a bag over it for good measure. Should have got warranty but now at least I know it's done right.

Youroo gave advice, not criticism, if you open it up you may void warranty on it. I have the same Jack that the LED died in the 1st month. I waited till I had several issues to deal with a towed it in. They replaced complete Jack. If you don't care about the warranty and want to attempt a fix, it is your trailer, have at it. I have made repaires on some items that I knew I could fix that would be less then fuel to tow it in. My choice to do. No criticism here either, you get to do what you want, just telling you what we think. You did ask, right?
