ah yes forgot you are in Canada - I visited a canadian tire when I lived in Gimli (North of Winnipeg) - they have everything in that store from what I remember - (1998)

Those switches have a third prong for ground in order for the light to work. Make sure you have someplace close by that you can ground the switch to.

So i never did conclude this thread. I took the problem switch out and I think i took it apart and a contact was dirty. cleaned it all up and snapped it back into place and its worked fine every since.
