Question Lights flashing-Electrical not working

Good morning all. Last summer we were traveling out east (3) different camp sites. Once we arrived at the second site the power was, and is still flashing. When power is hocked up the lights just flash and nothing works. has anyone experienced this or know what the problem is. I would like to try to fix myself if possible. I have a 2006 Palomino pony tent trailer.

Hello, How old is your battery? Quick check would be to attached a battery charger to the system and see if the flashing stops. Sounds like a convertor problem.

Which lights flash when you're hooked up to 30a?

still not real clear here...

the running lights are typically not lit up when you are camping, so if they light at all they should be on while driving...

If you hook to shore power with the 30 amp cord, your inside lights flash?

That would seem to indicate a bad 12 V converter... or camper battery inside your rig...

Your battery may be dead or dying as the interior lights of your camper are powered by 12V which is supplied by your camper's battery and your battery is kept charged by the converter with the 120 VAC you get from the power pedestal via the 30 amp cord.

Your other 120 VAC appliances and plugs will work, but the 12VDC lights flash?

Check for a dead camper battery, then see if the converter will light your interior lights WITHOUT the camper battery connected and report back. You can take the battery out and have it tested at any auto parts store.

I just went through this with a WFCO 4655 converter. With one or two interior lights on it was fine. Turn on a few more and they would cycle on and off.

It seems that the converter has two modes: low current draw (where the fan doesn't run) and high current draw (where it does).

High draw mode was dead, so when the converter switched to high draw there was no current flow so it switched back to low draw. And back to high, etc.

At the advice (?) of someone on these forums, I replaced it with the Progressive Dynamics replacement and everything worked fine--for five hours. Then the brand new PD unit gave up the ghost and would only deliver 1/2 volt. This with a battery with 12.5 volts connected or disconnected. I will be calling them first thing tomorrow morning.

loose or corded 12 Volt ground wire to the frame of the RV. Check battery terminals for corrosion or if they are loose. Check the 12 Volt connections at the battery charger for loose wires.

Hope this helps T im
