LP Gas Detector problems
I have a 2004 Wildwood 30ft bunkhouse. Our unit is on a permanent site in a campground so we stay plugged into electicity all the time.
I recently put a new battery on it but the LP Gas detector indicates I have low voltage when the furnace comes on. I do not have a gas leak and have checked it with a carbon monoxide detector. It is strictly a low voltage issue. This alarm only sounds at night and the only thing running is the furnace.
I have disconnected the unit and now have a carbon monoxide detector in the camper. Any suggestions and why this is happening?
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
The LP gas detector is different from the carbon monoxide detector. It could be that your LP detector is bad. I believe they have a shelf life of about 5 - 7 years, so it might be time to change it out. On our last camper, ours went out at just over 5 years. it was easy to replace, and not that expensive if I remember correctly.

You wrote that it does it when the furnace comes on. I believe the furnace runs on DC. It may be a weak battery that barely has enough to run the furnace. Or it may be a poor converter that isn't able to keep the battery topped off.

I would be checking your cables from the battery and the jucntion box under the trailer. FR uses household marretts and electrical tape to hold things together inside a house square electrical junction box that is not water tight.

As others have suggested, you might check your DC voltage in your
fuse-box while the furnace is running.
Use a good digital volt meter.
Also, have you noticed any lights dimming when the furnace comes on?
Final test would be to pull the LP detector off the wall and actually test
the voltage at the connection on the back while the furnace is running.
If it's showing 13+ volts on the back it's probably time for a new detector.
Good Luck!

This weekend when I was deer hunting in my Rockwood I started loosing my 45 amp main-board converter. The low voltage indicator harped at me so much I finally pulled the fuse.
Had to hook up my 12 volt battery charger as a makeshift converter just to run my furnace so I wouldn't have to heat with the stove burners after the converter blew.
Once the Bottom Unit starts to go it will not put out 13.6 volts anymore it will be less.
So I would say be on the lookout if your battery and connections are good.

One thing nobody has thrown out, you do have a leak in your furnace. Run your furnace during the day, and see what happens. The detector does go off with low voltage, as others have mentioned.
