I have the same setup on my Wolf Pack slider as does TexasBBQ and I have the same gap between the nuts on the ram. The slider never has jerked when sliding in and out. I do grease the gear tracks and the guides underneath where the tube steel slides into when closing the slider.

the upstairs is better supported on the 2004 than the 2002. ie it should give less.
tires are important. the tire can damage the side and under a trailer if allowed to run till it comes apart (i did that because i didn't know i had a flat).
i can't think of anything else to tell u to watch for. the cracks are the only major thing to go wrong on mine and they didn't show up till this year. with that, i will say, enjoy it.

if u don't have cracks yet, i would suggest going ahead and putting the cross brace in. there is a suggest frame repair on lippert's web site.

MOR/ryde Trailer Crossmembers - PPL Motor Homes
has an adjustable one.

the picture is the way the factory recommends it. one would go between each spring support.

I think that's a good proactive countermeasure. I wonder how many have actually cracked based on the population. I've not heard bout this on other trailers - looks like a design issue. Has anyone ever called Forest River on it?

i don't know what the percentage is. both forest river and lippert are aware of it.
lippert says it is from backing too sharp among other things. lippert has a bulletin on it but no recall. this is a link to the repair recommendation.

Times several.
Never use grease of any type on the slide mechanisms.
Spray Dry Lube only.

Lippert and Dexter are typical frame and slide mechanism manufacturers used by FR and other RV builders. The RV builders mostly buy standard components and assemble them into campers and motor homes.
