Maybe a dumb question, but?

We have the fold down bike rack on our Wildcat Maxx F313RE, which is basically a fold down tray, how do you secure the bikes so they don't fall off? The only other thing to tie to is the roof ladder. I understand having tie downs, but that doesn't seem secure enough by itself. What's the correct and secure way of doing this? Thank you in advance!

You have a tray intended for carrying coolers, storage boxes, etc. It is not a bike rack.

Yeah wbdavey, I feel it's more for that also! What's funny is the name on the Forest River sticker is a bike rack!

We hauled 4 bikes to Nebraska and back on our Wildcat bike rack. It has a post that normally lays flat on the rack but can be placed in an upright position on the rear side of the rack. I set the bikes on the rack then secure them thru the upper part of the frames with ratchet straps to the floor. I also thread short bungie cords through the tires at the bottom and tighten them so that the tires are basically fastened to the rack bottom as well. The bikes then are basically trapped between the rear wall of the trailer and the post on the bike rack.

None of the bikes moved during our travels although I did check them each time we stopped.

Safe travels!

Lefty59, thank you for chiming in! I believe my bike rack is the same as yours. After a closer look at mine, the post that can be flat or vertical is missing! I see the spot where it goes! I wish the dealer would catch that stuff because we had no idea what to look for! Since it's been a year they probably won't get a post for me, but I'll try anyway! If not, maybe Forest River will send me one! Thank you!

Now that is a good one as FR says installing one void your warranty. Is this statement just for TT? Later RJD

Depends on if the frame is an ultralight or not.
The OP'S is not.

I believe it's a factory installed bike rack. I have the same one.

I found my missing post way up front in my baggage compartment ---- but since it's been a year, I'm sure that you've thoroughly looked through there by now.

we have that same style of rack on our sabre, its factory installed. The sabre literature referrs to it as a bike rack with a load capacity of 450 lbs.
