mystery switch

I just bought a used 38' salem. There is a switch near the main electrical panel. There are two labels on the switch "air conditioner and water heater"
What does this switch do?

Sorry I can not help, my Salem does not have a switch like the one you are referring to, I have a Water Heater switch near the sink that turns on the water heater.

can you post a pic? what model # and year is the trailer?

I am sure someone will chime in and anwser your question.

It means you cannot run air conditioner and electric water heater at the same time select the one you want.

like bill and theresa said. most likely you have a 30 amp service. you get to pick between cool air or hot water lol

I sincerely doubt that. I do that every trip for 3 years, run my air and water heater, with no problems. Unless it's wintertime, then I run the heater! The one switch should be for gas water heater power, MAYBE the other switch is for the heated tanks, if you have that option. Does your Salem have dual air conditioners? I could see the addition of the electric water heater being an issue with amps then. Randy

I wonder if the previous owner put those two things on their own circuit that they could cut off? To save power while boondocking?

I have also seen trailers with a toggle for hot water and AC to prevent overloading.
