Need advice on possible water damage to roof

We bit the bullet and traded our TT for a 5'er. We have only had it since August.

So approximately one month ago, our King Jack radio antennae broke off due to a low branch on the way to a local campground. Hubby said that it would be fine until we take it in for our 90 day service, which is a week from tomorrow. I just got to thinking, we have had a TON of rain. Can water leak down into the roof where the antennae was? I'm thinking that there is a hole in the roof where they drilled the cables down inside and we probably have a crap ton of water sitting between the layers of the roof on our brand new 5th wheel. I'm officially freaking out! Do you think that we are going to have a lot of roof damage from water getting inside there, because we didn't properly take care of this? Please help! I'm both scared and stressed right now.

I don't think you have all that much to worry about. If you haven't noticed any signs of water inside, then I doubt enough water has gotten in to cause permanent damage.

I would think if it broke off above the rubber roof and the base of the antenna is still there your fine. My antenna was hitting the rafter on my rv shed so I laid it almost all the way down on the roof and it still picks up flawlessly. When you get it fixed might not be a bad idea.

I agree, there is not likely water entering. The mast post likely broke of at the attachment point. The base of the antenna goes into the roof of the trailer roof and is attached with an expanding connecter that pulls tight when it screwed down. Click image for larger version

Don't assume water isn't getting under the skin. Ours leaked and rotted out an area under the roof.

I guess I should have read your article closer, King Jack antenna is a different issue. Might have caused more damage then a regular mast antenna.

Thank you for all of the responses. I sincerely appreciate everyone's input. I checked the interior roof in the MBR, inside the cabinets and there is no sign of any water. I also climbed up top and checked out the roof. I didn't see any visible damage up there. I peered down into where the TV antenna was attached. I do see a place where water could get in. It is fairly small, on either side of the wiring. The forecast is pretty clear until next Monday when we take her in for service. We'll ask and see what they have to say about it.

I think that we are just going to do the PVC pipe over the base and not replace the antenna. If we replace it, I would bet money that it will just get broken off again. Too many trees with low branches on roads to campgrounds. When originally installed, it should have been placed behind the AC unit to help protect it, or on the opposite side of the camper, so that when towing it is closer to the center line of the road instead of the side of the road.
