Nitrogen in tires
My TT came with nitrogen filled tires and I'm wondering if I need to go to a service station all of the time to adjust the pressure or is there a portable can or tank for purchase.
Also, is it okay to mix compressed air with the nitrogen gas?
Thanks for any insight.

Air we breath is 78% nitrogen. Just use a regular compressor, save yourself the hassle. Nitrogen filled tires are more marketing then anything else...
I hate that stupid sticker they stuck on mine marketing the snake oil. Wish I could get that off...

Renting a nitrogen bottle from your local mixed gas company would be expensive.
If you choose to continue to run nitrogen filled tires, you will have to pay the piper at the nitrogen fill stations.
It is perfectly OK to mix nitrogen filled tires with compressed air. Compressed air is about 80% nitrogen. The current ratio of about 95% nitrogen that you now have in your tires will slowly be diluted as you add air.

I think the (NITRO FILL) sticker has a (800#) to call for a refill,call it and see what part of the world they are in! Youroo!!

Well I guess that settles it, I'll be using my compressor when needed.
It's surprising that the manufacturer would bother to fill the tires with nitrogen if it's costly to refill, I guess everyone tries to keep a hand in our pockets, LOL!

I'm guessing the trailer companies get the N2 for free (or for the cost of air) and the N2 suppliers pay the trailer companies to put their stickers on the trailers.
I'm in the auto industry. There are mixed opinions here about N2 filled tires. However, there isn't any hard data that shows a great improvement in performance - especially when compared to the cost. So, add me to the list that say skip it and use air.

It's a slight of hand thing... Look over here at this cool gas we're inflating your tires with much better than just plain air.
And if you look elsewhere you'll see that the outside of tires has already begun to prematurely oxidize, crack and dry rot.
But I bet the insides are still smooth as a baby's bottom.

It is a cheap option that: sounds good; costs almost nothing; and the public thinks is worth something.
Win Win for the manufacturer.

Thanks for asking the question. I was wondering the same thing! Didn't want my compressor to become obsolete.

As I've posted elsewhere, based on my research while I worked at Boeing - unless your RV can do 150 mph for 2 miles with a dragging brake and then retract the wheels, you don't need to spend the money on nitrogen. It's a scam!
Airplanes can do the above and have had some nasty accidents as a result, including a fatal crash of a Swissair Caravelle (68 people killed). That's why airplanes use nitrogen for tire inflation.

After RV Wholesalers sent me on my way with underinflated Nitrogen filled tires which burst after only 250 miles I am refilling the new ones I had to buy (dig) .............with Nitrous Oxide so we can have a good laugh at the experience
