Orange satellite cables??

When neither of my year old RV satellite inputs worked I looked behind the walls and found they were connected but with orange coax. My satellite will not work when connected to these. It only seems to work when I connect the satellite directly to my Wally. Anybody else have issues like this? I know the Pathway x2 gets its power through its coax, and was wondering if these orange cables are designed for satellites that use a separate power supply. They seem to be a sturdier cable than "normal" coax. I also did not see any splitters on these. The cable tv uses grey cable and IS attached to splitters, but not the orange (from what I could see).

Just a way of tracing cables
Might need to pull wall plates and check connection and if on correct terminals on each end
Orange cable should be home run to inside wall plate....

I have Direct and a King Flex automatic portable dish.....With this setup, the cable coming in goes to control box that powers the Flex, from there to receiver, to tv.... Leave tv on air ( antenna), channel 3, auto scan for channels

I have a Forester and if I remember correctly in my rig the orange is for cable input and purple coax is home run for satellite. So it may depend on who wired your unit that day as to what color is used.

It's not the cable that is the issue it will be splitters that are put in in the wrong MHz band and will not allow the signal. If you can find the spotters and replace them with good ones that should take care of it.

In my rig the orange is home run from the wall plate with the switch on it directly to the outside SAT connector. Make sure you are hooking up the outside SAT (not cable) to the inside (SAT/AUX) connector. That is "home run" with NO splitters installed.

Try the cable input. It's possible installer connected cables backwards on exterior input

A simple continuity check will tell all. I use a cut off cable end with the shield and conductor shorted. Screw it on the outlet and use your meter to check what goes where.

Sqtlm17, are you serious about connecting the cables backwards? You're kidding, right? After removing all the plates and not finding any splitters for the satellite I found the orange cable going from the outside coax connection plate directly to the coax plate behind the tv. I could not see about 20 feet of cable that disappeared under the floor. The plates work fine when I substitute my own coax. Maybe I do need to use a continuity tester in case of a faulty cable.

I was also wondering if the issue is the new Pathway x2. Anybody else have issues with it?

No I was saying maybe the installer connected the home run satellite wire to the exterior input labeled cable and the cable TV wire to the satellite exterior connection. It has happened numerous times to people on the these forums. If you have ruled that possiblty out then don't worry about it. I don't know what you mean connect the cable backwards.
What Bob said above maybe the cables are connected wrong from the factory

X2. I use a terminator resistor on one end and one the end I'm connecting the ohm meter I use a female/female connector and attach the cut off end of the cable. The terminator resistor is +/- 75 ohms. you should get that same reading on your meter unless the cable is damaged (cut or broken) during construction.

Since those cables are made up on the jobsite, my money is on a bad termination. Since power is carried on the shield in many satellite systems, a bad termination or short center pin will be a problem.

Sqtlm17, I was just wondering about yesterday's 9:04 pm posting, "Try the cable input. It's possible installer connected cables backwards on exterior input". Thought I was about to learn something new.
