Permanently removing water filter

Has anyone removed the water filter permanently? How did you do this? We have a Surveyor 264. The water filter is almost impossible to get to. We always use an external filter and also filter drinking water with a Pur pitcher filter. Our trailer sat for a good bit of the summer and now the water seems to be contaminated. Looking at the filter confirmed this in spades. I want to get this thing out of there for good!! Anyone have any experience? Thanks.

Once you unscrew the lines from the water filter housing you should be able to use a coupler to join the two lines together. I would get a few different size couplers 1/2, 3/8 etc.

I also didn't want my "built in" filter. It was hard to reach and impossible
to drain without spilling in my crawl thru storage.

I simply unscrewed the pipe thread tubing fittings from both sides
and connected them together with a brass pipe coupling.
I tried a PVC threaded coupling but it would drip slowly no matter how much
teflon tape or pipe dope I put on the threads. It finally split due to over
tightening. Brass is the way to go.
Sorry, I can't remember if it's 1/2" NPT or 3/4 NPT.

Mine was hard to do since they used permanent PEX connectors. They could not be unscrewed from the housing without removing them.

I had to use a plastic pipe cutter to cut off the fittings and then remove the housing. I replaced the PEX fittings with push type Gator fittings and installed a Shurflo air bladder in its place.

i used a fitting in a hard to get area called a shark bite. basically push it on and it seals. to remove, u insert a tool from the back to release it.
seems that i read in their literature that the "O" ring had a life expectancy or 5 or 10 yrs. is this the same thing?
the fittings weren't cheap (~$15) but worked well. no glue. also forgave minor imperfections in the pipe. the time savings was unbelievable.

Thanks for all the responses. A free-lance tech came to our campsite and replaced the filter with a coupler/connection in about 10 minutes. No leaking either!! We are HAPPY.
