I just took delivery of my lightweight Surveyor SV-294, and it seems to blow the 15A fuse every time I retract the stabilizer jacks. Has anyone else experienced this? Should the dealer be able to fix it? So far the only thing they have offered is to replace the fuse. Not much help if it just blows again the next time I use it!
That is interesting. I wonder why the are not blowing the fuse when you extend them?

You would think there would be more amp usage when extending them.
I wonder if there supposed to have a 15 amp fuse?
my slide outs are 30's .
15 amp may be a little low which makes me wonder if its correct.
Someone will know.
Thanks for the responses. I'll check into getting a resettable circuit breaker for the jacks, and I'll see if it should have a 20 amp instead of 15 amp.
Are you retracting them until they stop? I had a 5th wheel and if I ran the front landing gear in to far it would blow a fuse. I simple put a mark on the extended legs and only retracted them to that point. Could be why it only blows when you retract them?

You might want to check the wire gauge before upping the amperage of the fuse. Just as a precaution.

Same issue on our 5th wheel. I did as mentioned and marked the legs. If I go beyond the mark I need to refuse. I am sure its the locked rotor current in the motor thats blowing it. Some day I will put in a time delay breaker.

I read this as the power stabilizers. There is a mod to add an auto-resetting fuse near the motor switch. Some units did not get this mandatory piece of equipment.

I second Kpinto. I have 2010 flag 5th wheel (28 rk). Woull blow fuse every time I would retrack. Dealer states this "appeared" a couple of years ago with a change in their supplier. Marked my legs and installed a fuse that you can reset when tripped.

my 8281ss blows the fuses in the front jacks with out bottoming, it also blows the small slide fuse and the rear jacks blows fuses also, and it always works fine at the dealer, ( something is happing when i transport it from one place to another )
it at the dealer AGAIN for this problem ( i hope they can fix it )
The fuse blew the first time I retracted the stabilizers. I ran them up to high and "bumped" the motor. Replaced the fuse and stop just short of bumping. Only had to replace the one time.

The dealer has checked and tested the electric motors on my unit. Turns out they upgraded to 30 amp motors on the surveyor units, but they didn't upgrade the in-line fuses to match the new motor specs.
The dealer switched the fuses and assured me that this will fully resolve the issue. I'll be marking a 'stopping point' on the jacks just in case, but I hope this is the end of the problem.

I had the same thing happen to me.
I used a sharpie to make the mark.
Seriously folks. Look at the Lippert fix for this problem.
I went through 6 30 amp fuses on my first weekend trip. Put the auto-resetting fuse in and have never had a problem again. Simple, and I do mean simple, fix. A buck 69 and done with it.
Herk's approach looks like the "correct" fix. I was blowing 30 amp fuses when I ran jacks all the way up. Motor was only drawing 23 amps during the return. My fix (a 25 amp fuse that you can reset by pushing on the top) has worked so far. Only understand electric stuff enough to be dangerous, but this seems to accomplish the same thing.
