Power outage and the Refrigerator
Question, your at a camp site and hooked up to land power, the refrigerator is on and using the electric and the light on the fridge is on AUTO and all is well. Now the camp ground looses power then comes back on, now the fridge indicator lights are back on but now the AUTO and the CHECK light is lit, the question is, Is the fridge still operating?

In short, No. The check light comes on when the gas side fails to light. Therefore if after a certain amount re-light attempts the circuit board in most refrigerators go into "lock out" where they stop trying to light figuring there is a bigger problem and not wanting to fill the area with LPG. At this point I think the brain dismisses the A/C when it is restored until you reset it by turning it off and back on again.

So if it has to be reset so it can go back into it's normal operation then it's best not the leave anything in the fridge that well go bad if you are on a seasonal site and camp on weekends. Thanks for the reply, I wasn't sure if it had a brain.

When your fridge is in auto, it should switch to gas if the electricity goes off and
back to AC when the electricity comes back on.
If your LP tanks are off or the line has not been purged recently, the fridge will try
to light during a power failure. If it is unable to light after several tries it will fault out.
The remedy for this is to leave your LP on when you are gone for the weekend.
You should also make sure the fridge can light if necessary by testing it on gas.
That way during a power failure, it will switch to gas and when the electricity comes
back on, it will switch back to AC.
If you don't want to leave the LP on when you are away and the electricity is
in doubt the only recourse is to empty the fridge when you leave.....
Good Luck!
