Recommendation of a tripod stabilizer for 5th wheel

The long winter months of dreaming of camping has begun! With that trying to find a solution for the shake (side to side).

Jt strongarms hands down.
Tripod is bulky , heavy , and you have to store it.
You won't be disappointed with jt's

I have a couple tripods I can sell you! I couldn't use the JT's because of having hydraulic landing gear, which required more modification than the bolt on system for electric. That said, it does take up a little storage room, but they do work. I have a steel one and aluminum one that I no longer need.

I use an aluminum tripod and it takes a lot of the 'shake' out of the unit. The trick to the tripod is to set it up right and tight. The aluminum unit is so much lighter to handle than the steel unit and it provides the same level of support as the steel unit.

I bought this one just to make the bedroom a little less shaky but I haven't used it yet.

And no. Lippert does not recommend installing them on hydraulic landing gear and have gone as far as saying your warranty may be voided, but they also sell the adapters to install them. Doesn't make much sense to me.

CYA policy. Some people wouldn't understand that hydraulic shears are used to cut scrap steel. Imagine a locked stabilizer and hydraulic cyclinder vs LCI frame with a person not knowing when to stop.

Don't have auto level on my camper but could see a holy nightmare if you had it set up with stabilizers and accidentally the relevel button got pushed and it went thru a cycle. I hear it's not supposed too but what if. I will bet the stabilizer will be damaged but the frame will be worse off.

I don't think they clamp down tight enough to to do damage to the frame. They would break long before that would happen. The problem had to do with the cylinders themselves. Never really understood what the problem actually was with it, but I think it is listed on their website. I also know of a set that was installed by Lippert on a level up system in Goshen, so who knows.

Here's what we use: BAL - Innovative Products for the RV Industry

It's lightweight, easy to set up and works real well for us. I typically leave the nose of our rig a pinch high until I have the tripod in place & then bump down the landing gear 2-3 times to firm it up. We then go set the rear stabilizers after that.

We might have installed another system, but would have had to relocate the spare tire as it is between the front legs of the landing gear. We tried this tripod instead & so far we're satisfied...even though we still do get some shake...we can live with it.

I bought a tripod first. It helped some. Put on JT Strongarms and now don't use the tripod.
