Replacing Decals

One of the decals on my Roo is beginning to peel so I ordered a new one. Is there any trick to removing the old decal completely and getting the new one lined up correctly and placed without any bubbles?

I just removed a fair amount of them on the front and back of my Surveyor.
I used WD-40 and a razor blade.
I tried a hair dryer to help but found it to be easier with just the WD and the blade.

I sprayed the graphic with the WD and took it off in strips. Sometimes I could hold on to the "tail" as I was taking it off, and it would help. Have a small cardboard box to throw the scraps into........ they will stick to anything if you just let them drop.

You have to take your time so you don't "nick" the surface. Any time I got in a hurry I could feel it "catch".

Once the graphic is off there will be some adhesive left. Spray again, and let it soak for a bit. Hit it with the blade again, and it will ball up on your blade. Scrape the "residue" on the edge of the box, and repeat until it's all gone.

It takes some patience, but it can be done.

Thanks. I emailed the factory and they suggested I use Goo Gone. I recall using WD40 on the roof of my old Coleman popup when I had to remove reside from a Yakima crossbar support that had to be replaced.

Any tips on getting the replacement decal in exactly the same place?

I do alot of vinyl sticker work. A heat gun or blow dryer then goo gone to remove. Razor blades are last resort and take some skill not to nick your finish. To install I like to use the hinge method for large stickers or when you have to put it back in the same place as your deal. Heres a video showing the hinge method.

We use this by 3m at work all the time.
And I wouldn't use wd40 if you plan on new decals sticking to the surface, without using even more chemicals to remove the wd40 residue.

On new decals, we use a non-amonia, aerosol glass cleaner (like spray-away) to spray the underside of the decals so you can move them around some. Spray some glass cleaner on the top of the decal too after placement of decals, to help ease the squeegee process. Then squeegee the decal out with a rubber or plastic squeegee. Then remove the front film or paper, pulling back and not up on the top film.
- u can use tape or pencil to mark placement of the old decal, but honestly most of the time you can see the outline of the old one unless the surface was painted or buffed.

Good luck!!!

Choice Tool Supply 4" Smart Eraser Pad with Drill Adaptor Arbor [Made In USA] that I purchased from Amazon.com. I used no chemicals only my drill and time. I went slow and did not ruin my finish. Go to the Amazon web site under this product and read all the reviews and how others used this product to remove decals.
